Head Cold, No Taste

Yes, I caught a head cold from my hubby this week...I guess it was inevitable, really. So I don't really trust my taste buds at the moment, thus the lack of reviews.

I can tell you, however, that my favorite teas to reach for when fighting a cold are blended with herbs - namely rooibos, peppermint and chamomile - and a spices like cinnamon. I've been drinking a lot of Cassablanca Twist (Adagio) and Rooibos Chocolate Mint (Dragonwater) lately, as well as Rooibos Apple Cinnamon (Dragonwater) and Spicy Chai (Stash). Stuff to sooth the throat and open the airways...tea for medicinal purposes, if you will.

So the reviews will return just as soon as my sense of taste does...but I have some teaware coming this weekend that I'll post on in the meantime.

  1. Sorry about the head cold, and in the summer too! I find that they are just the worst! I just plain LOVE tea too. Loose leaf tea is what I live for, and I also study in my spare time medicinal herbal tea's. There's a wonderful store in Toronto that has an herbologist there. They always say how important it is to see a family doctor; and then use herbal infusions in addition too. I love Rooibos when my stomach feels a little off, and I put peppermint or spearamint into some of my green tea for added freshness. Hibiscus flowers are a great source of vitamin C as well. Great for head colds! My favourite tea at the moment is Chai with extra cinnamon and freshly ground cardamom.
Take care, and I hope you feel better soon

  2. So sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Isn't it great how tea provides us so many options even when we feel lousy?

    Rest up...

  3. Thank you for the well-wishes. I'm starting to feel better, slowly but surely...just "stuffy/runny" now.

You can imagine my chagrin when I poked around in my needs-to-be-organized tea cupboard, and found that I am completely out of chamomile, bagged or loose. I've been trying to get by with my rooibos, mint, and ginseng teas, but nothing cures the stuffiness like a good cup of chamomile (I actually use it for allergy relief).

But an Adagio order was delivered today, and I forgot I had ordered a sample of Foxtrot - rooibos, mint and chamomile blend when I placed this particular order. So I'll have chamomile tonight, and probably much happier sinuses.

    Here's to health through tea!
